My experience of PPU was very positive. Two nurses in particular were extremely good, Katie and one of the night staff, Helen I think her name was. She was on nights 1st and 2nd October. Only area of concern was that I had an open wound after major surgery and there was another patient in the unit who had MRSA. Could there have been a risk of infection given I had an open wound.
Otherwise a well recommended unit with caring team of nurses. It does highlight to me how under resourced, especially at night, FGH is as my unit had a patient with a tracioctomy and only 1 nurse to manage 4 patients.
Great friendly care by all the staff
The prime benefit of this hospital is it's local, the next (either Kendal or Lancaster) and a significant drive away, and car parking at Lancaster is the pits!
Furness General does most of what it does pretty well, appears to be reasonably organised and appointments come close to running on time (a snapshot of the last half a dozen occasions I have been either on my own or with family)
Every single person nurses, Drs and other staff were fantastic.
Very impressed with the professional attitude of all staff.
I attended accident and emergency twice in two days. My illness was identified as a stone trapped in bile duct which was painful. I was taken first to ward 5 seac Room and following an MRI scan my condition Was confirmed. I was then given a bed on ward 4 and Spent a week in the hospital until discharged. Dr khan was the consultant in charge of my care but the mrcp to bypass the stone was undertaken by Dr keeting. I cannot fault the nursing staff, junior Drs or consultants or surgeons. Everyone was helpful, willing to explain all medical questions put to them. Facilities were clean and food much better than I thought it would be. Top marks and thank you all for your care.
Had surgery on my elbow the doctors and nurses did a fantastic job helping me and looking after me thanks to MR G Talawadkar
I have attended many Appointments, Consultations Wards, Departments during my 79 yrs and I have never been disappointed with anything or anyone.
Recently I visited the canteen and a very kind Senior Member of the Nursing Staff volunteered to return my tray etc to the trolley. This kind of thoughtfulness and care means so much and does set a good example to others. I will not forget the kindness shown.
My opinion of all staff I encountered during my visits is
We are all very fortunate to get the great care they all offer and they should all be very proud with their efforts.
I am very grateful to you all
The pre-care and after-care was very good on the ward. The area was quiet and clean and the experience was made as pleasant as possible.
I have been an in-patient twice and an out-patient a few times now and must say I cannot find fault in the service received at FGH at all.
The nurses were very nice and comforting. The hospital was clean and had things for me to do as I waited like the Xbox.
